Team to Win 8th Annual Charitable Golf Tournament And Auction

Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California on Monday, August 8, 2005
The proceeds will benefit the Team to Win high school community outreach sports medicine program.

WHAT: Team to Win Silent and Live Auction Opportunity

Team To Win currently works with 24 high schools in Southern California and hoping to expand, guaranteeing free medical benefits (surgeries, physical therapy and on field athletic trainers) for athletes who don't have medical insurance because their either living at poverty or below poverty levels. Currently in the state of California, kids cannot participate in high school athletic programs unless they are medically insured. Playing school sports used to be something we took for granted but with budget cuts and the rising cost of healthcare this is now only for those young athletes who have families fortunate enough to be able to afford health insurance.

Each high school participating in TTW is provided with an Athletic Trainer who works at a TTW high school to provide ON SITE sports medicine care to student athletes participating in sports. TTW provides physician coverage at Varsity Football Games, a scholar athlete award of excellence program, a scholarship program, donated medical supplies, and training room development programs. Students participating in the Team to Win, Sports Medicine Youth Program learn about teamwork and live a healthy lifestyle. Participation in school-based sports encourages cooperation and understanding, helps foster and build relationships, enhances equal opportunity and imparts valuable lessons and skills needed in life to survive.

This program not only supports and nurtures the athletic endeavors of its students, but it also encourages scholarly achievement and community involvement. Currently, this program serves 13,000 male and female high school students in 24 high schools throughout Los Angeles County. Over 55% of the youth served in this program live at or below the poverty line. This program operates at no charge to the high schools we serve.
